Online Math Tutoring for K–12 Students

Structured online learning + real tutor support, from $24/week.

Is Your Child Falling Behind in Math?

Math is one of those subjects where gaps compound quickly. A shaky understanding of fractions in 4th grade makes algebra harder in 6th. A missed week of geometry can throw off an entire semester. By the time a parent notices, the gap is often bigger than the test score suggests.

The problem is rarely that a child isn't capable. It's that they missed something foundational, fell behind, and never had the chance to fill that gap properly.

That's exactly what APLUS America is designed to fix.

The Best of Both Worlds – Online Learning and Real Tutor Support

APLUS America gives your child personalized online math support based on the skills they need most. Your child can work through their lessons at home, at their own pace, with engaging, interactive activities that help them build understanding at the right level.

They're not just watching videos or clicking through worksheets. They're working through a personalized weekly learning plan, built around the areas they need support with, with tutor support available by phone up to 10 hours per week if they get stuck, at no extra cost.

It gives families a simple, flexible way to support math learning at home, with structure, consistency, and real help when it's needed.

How APLUS America Math Tutoring Works

Step 1: The Math Doctor Assessment

Every child starts with the Math Doctor diagnostic assessment. This helps identify which concepts your child already understands, where there may be gaps, and which skills need more support. The assessment shows us where to begin, so your child's personalized math learning plan can focus on the skills they need most.

Step 2: A Personalized Weekly Learning Plan

Using the assessment results, we build your child a weekly lesson plan tailored specifically to them. Every Monday, the plan is updated with fresh activities. There's no guessing what to do next, your child logs in and the work is ready for them, sequenced to close gaps first, then consolidate what's being taught in class, then extend beyond.

Step 3: Learn at Your Own Pace with Math Wiz

Our online learning platform delivers over 1,500 interactive lessons covering the full K-12 Common Core math curriculum. It teaches, tests, and revisits each concept, adapting to how your child is responding. Lessons are designed to be engaging and self-explanatory, so students can work independently, building real confidence.

Step 4: Tutor Support When They Need It

If your child gets stuck, they can pick up the phone and speak to their tutor, available Monday to Thursday after school, up to 10 hours per week. Using screen sharing and an interactive whiteboard, tutors walk through specific problems or concepts to ensure your child is feeling confident and ready to progress.

A Learning Path That Moves with Your Child

Our personalized plans follow three natural stages, and most students move through all three:

Revision and Catch-Up

When your child first gets started, their personalized learning plan focuses on the gaps identified in the Math Doctor assessment. By strengthening these foundational skills, your child can start to feel more confident and engaged with what they're learning.

Consolidation

Once the key gaps have been addressed, the focus shifts to reinforcing what your child is learning at school right now. This is often where things start to click. Your child begins to feel more confident with new topics, and homework can start to feel more manageable.

Extension

Once your child is on track, the plan moves them ahead, into topics beyond the current classroom curriculum, building the kind of depth that makes advanced math less intimidating later.

Works for All Learners – Including Those Who Learn Differently

Many families come to APLUS America because their child needs learning support that feels more flexible, structured, and manageable.

Our format works well for children with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and other learning differences. Lessons are short, interactive, and engaging, with visuals, audio support, and activities that help children build understanding one step at a time.

Children also earn points as they complete lessons and activities, which can be exchanged for gift cards. This gives them a tangible way to celebrate their effort and progress as they keep building their skills.

If they need extra help, your child can access tutor support. Our online tutors can explain concepts in another way and answer questions so they can keep moving forward. It is a calm, supportive way to build skills, confidence, and momentum over time.

★★★★★

"Our daughter quickly went from shutting down during math to achieving 100% on math sheets and tests. Her school even approached us asking what we were doing."

— L. Mowbray, parent of a child with ASD and ADHD

You don't need a formal diagnosis to start. If your child is struggling and you're not sure why, the Math Doctor assessment is a useful first step regardless.

APLUS America covers math and English, with a full adaptive platform and tutor support, for a fraction of that cost.

Try it free: Every new student gets 2 weeks free to start. During their first 2 weeks, your child can experience the platform, complete the Math Doctor assessment, and see their first personalized lesson plan.

Real Progress, Not Just Practice

APLUS America is structured learning support designed to help your child build stronger skills, confidence, and a better attitude toward math.

Every student starts with the Math Doctor assessment, so we can see what they already understand and where they need more support. From there, their personalized weekly learning plan targets the right skills in the right order.

As your child works through their plan, progress is easier to see. Weekly reports show what they have completed, how they are performing, and what their plan will focus on next.

What parents notice first

A shift in attitude. Children who said they hated math starting to engage voluntarily. Students finishing their weekly plan without being reminded.

What teachers notice

Students arriving in class more prepared, asking better questions, and keeping up with new content instead of falling further behind.

Built Around the US Math Curriculum

Every lesson in our math tutoring platform is developed around Common Core Standards, the framework used by many schools across the United States to guide what students learn at each stage.

This means your child's personalized math learning plan is not random or generic. It is connected to the skills they are expected to build across the K-12 curriculum, but it starts at the level your child needs. For some children, that means revisiting earlier concepts and filling gaps that may be making current schoolwork harder. For others, it means reinforcing what they are learning now. And when they are ready, it can also help them move ahead into more advanced topics.

Our curriculum covers:

Because the curriculum is aligned and comprehensive, your child can build the skills they need in the right order. This can also support the foundational understanding needed for state assessments, standardized tests, and end-of-year exams, not through test prep, but through stronger curriculum knowledge over time.

Math Tutoring – Frequently Asked Questions

How much does online math tutoring cost?

Pricing for APLUS America starts from $24 per week, with family-friendly options for math only or both math and English. Every plan includes access to the online learning platform, the Math Doctor diagnostic assessment, your child's personalized weekly lesson plan, tutor support, weekly progress reports, and the rewards system. There are no per-session tutoring fees or hidden costs. New students also get their first 2 weeks free, during which your child can complete the Math Doctor assessment, explore the platform, and receive their first personalized lesson plan. To put that in context, private math tutors typically charge $40 to $80 per hour, so from around $24 per week APLUS America is a more affordable way to access personalized math and English support, with a clear weekly plan and real tutor support included.

Is online math tutoring as effective as in-person?

Online math tutoring can work very well when your child has the right structure and support around them. With APLUS America, your child is not left to figure things out alone. They receive a personalized weekly math learning plan based on the skills they need most, with short, interactive lessons they can complete at home. The online format gives your child flexibility, while the weekly plan keeps learning structured and consistent. If they need extra help, our online tutors are available by phone to explain concepts and answer questions. For families, this gives the best of both worlds: the convenience of learning from home, with real tutor support available when it is needed.

How often can I call the math tutors?

Our tutors are available during support hours, Monday to Thursday after school, up to 10 hours per week. Students can call when they need help with a question or concept. Our tutors use screen sharing technology and an interactive whiteboard to walk through the problem step by step, so your child gets a clear explanation rather than just an answer. Your child's learning plan is designed to be self-guided, with lessons and step-by-step solutions built in, but knowing tutor support is available can make a real difference. Parents can call too, to discuss their child's progress or talk through the weekly report.

How does the Math Doctor assessment work?

Math Doctor is our diagnostic assessment that identifies exactly which math concepts your child knows and which ones have gaps. Every new student is encouraged to complete it when they join, it's the foundation for everything that follows. The assessment looks at the full K–12 math curriculum in a broad sense, testing across the topics covered at your child's level and beyond. The results tell us not just what grade your child is working at, but specifically which skills need attention. Once the assessment is complete, our tutors use the results to build your child's first personalized weekly lesson plan, starting with the gaps that are most important to address. The plan is then updated every week based on the previous week's results. For students in Kindergarten to Grade 2, our tutors may recommend starting before completing Math Doctor. For all other students, completing it as early as possible gives the most accurate starting point.

What grades do you cover?

APLUS America covers math from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The full curriculum is aligned to Common Core Standards and includes: Kindergarten through Grade 5 (counting, number sense, operations, base ten, fractions, decimals, measurement, geometry, and word problems); Grades 6 through 8 (ratios and proportional relationships, the number system, integers, expressions and equations, geometry, statistics, and probability); and high school (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry, Probability and Statistics, and AP Calculus). Within each level, the curriculum is broken down into individual lessons and units so the personalized plan can target exactly what your child needs.

How quickly will my child improve?

It varies between students, but many families notice a shift in attitude and engagement within the first few weeks, particularly once earlier gaps start to close and concepts begin to make more sense. As your child builds stronger skills and a consistent learning habit, academic improvement can follow, whether that's stronger test results, more consistent class performance, or greater confidence with homework. We recommend around 20 minutes, 4 times per week. The Math Doctor assessment helps make progress easier to track from the start, and the weekly reports show what they have covered, how they are performing, and what their plan will focus on next. If you ever have concerns, you can contact tutor support to talk through the learning plan.

Can my child get help the same day?

Yes. Your child's personalized lesson plan is tailored to their needs, based on their initial and ongoing assessments plus their progress. Lessons are clear, structured, and self-guided, with clues, hints, and instant feedback built in. Worked solutions are also available, so if your child gets stuck or answers incorrectly, they can see the steps and understand how to approach it next time. This built-in support helps them keep moving independently. And when they need extra help, our tutor line is available during Math Wiz support hours, Monday to Thursday after school. Tutors can talk through the question, explain the concept in another way, and help your child understand the next step.

How long should it take to complete the weekly lesson plan?

As a guide, your child's math lesson plan is designed to be completed in short, manageable sessions. We recommend around 20 minutes, 4 times per week, rather than trying to complete everything in one sitting. That said, the time can vary between students. Some children move through activities quickly, while others need more time to work through the tutorials, clues, hints, and step-by-step solutions. What matters most is that your child is understanding each concept, not rushing to finish. If your child finds the work too challenging, we can take the plan back a step; if they find it too easy, we can adjust the plan to give them more challenge.

How is the weekly lesson plan created?

Each weekly lesson plan is built around three things: the results of your child's Math Doctor assessment, how they performed on the previous week's lessons and tests, and the ongoing need for revision and consolidation. Math Doctor identifies the foundational gaps. The plan then addresses those gaps first, in a logical sequence, so that each new concept builds on one that's already been understood. As the weeks go on, the plan evolves based on your child's results, moving away from topics they've mastered and spending more time where they need it. If you want a specific topic added to the plan, you can call the tutor line and a tutor can make that adjustment.

My child has finished their lesson plan for the week. Can they do more work?

Yes, and it's encouraged. What they do next depends on their grade level. For elementary school students, the best use of extra time is the educational games. These aren't just filler, they're designed to reinforce important concepts like times tables in a way that builds fluency through repetition and makes practice feel enjoyable. For middle and high school students, the most valuable extra work is practicing the topics they're currently covering in school. They can use the search tool in Math Wiz to find lessons on exactly what their teacher is working through in class, giving them extra repetitions on current content before it comes up in tests. If your child regularly finishes their plan with time to spare and you'd like it adjusted, just call the tutor line.

How is this different from Khan Academy or IXL?

Khan Academy and IXL are both solid tools for students who are motivated to direct their own learning. The main difference with APLUS America is that we do the planning and personalization for you, and we add a human layer that neither of those platforms provides. Khan Academy is essentially a library, with excellent explanations and a wide range of content, but it doesn't tell your child what to work on or adjust based on their specific gaps. IXL is strong for practice and gives useful feedback, but again, it doesn't build a plan around your child's individual diagnostic results. APLUS America starts with the Math Doctor assessment to identify exactly what your child is missing, then builds a fresh weekly plan every Monday that targets those gaps in order. Your child doesn't have to figure out where to start, they log in and the work is ready. And when they genuinely can't work something out, there's a tutor available by phone, which is something neither Khan Academy nor IXL offers.
